We have owned donkeys for 34 years since 1990 but we have been raising foals for 28 years since 1996 when our first foal was born. We have had 261 foals born here at Half Ass Acres and out of that 261 we have had 129 jacks (92 have been or will be castrated making our percentage of castrations @ 72%) and 133 jennets for an average of 8  foals per year in spite of keeping around 30 jennets in our brood jennet band most of our lives (we have recently reduced our herd to only have 12 active brood jennets. It is time for us to slow down now that we are both in our seventies.). We just do not believe in overbreeding and flooding the market nor putting a strain on our brood jennets by raising a foal every single year.

Out of 181 chances to have spots, 102 of them have been spotted making our percentage of spots at 56%. (I started counting our frosted spotteds and masked spotteds in our totals which improved our percentages.) If you would like to double check our figures click on this link!
