Rosie went into labor in the evening of 12/27/20. We knew she was in trouble when nothing was happening after much rolling and getting up/down. Joe checked and the foal was presenting with the nose only. Joe pushed the foal back inside and found each front leg that was folded back and straightened them out one at a time and then helped deliver the baby safely.
This was Rosie's first foal and she took to motherhood like a duck takes to water.
We were not able to video the birth ourselves as we both had our hands full but we were able to pull the video off of our barn cams. We tried to cut out the boring parts and just show you how Joe was able to reposition the foal and help Rosie deliver her safely. Praise the Lord for this great outcome!!
Thank you to my sister, Lynn, for coming up with this adorable name. Since Joe saved her life we think it is very appropriate.
This beautiful girl will be offered to our customers that have deposits with us first. If they pass on her we will post her on our for sale page for the public's consideration and we will notify everyone on our waiting list.

This may be one of the best foals ever born here at Half Ass Acres. We waited to post him because he was limping on his left hind leg in the videos but he has completely recovered now from whatever injured his leg. We will be offering him to our customers that already have deposits with us and if they pass on him we will offer him to the public.
Ex looks to be a dark brown and white spot now be we are betting he will shed off to be a black and white spot judging by his genetics and our foals that were born this color in the past. Time will tell but no matter what color he turns out to be he is stocky, correct and strikingly handsome. For an added bonus his personality could not be any friendlier.
Shivers is a gorgeous dark tyger spotted jennet that I have no doubt will shed or clip off to be a black and white spot. She is super friendly and has inherited all of the best qualities of her sire and dam. Shivers will be offered for sale to our customers that have deposits with us for our 2020 foals. If they turn her down she will be listed on our for sale page. We really wanted to keep this jennet but we are already at our limit for keeping foals this year.

Our barn cams are still down for repairs. We had last checked on Cake at 3pm and all was well. We went back out to do chores at 6pm and there was the baby already up and nursing. This is what happens if you let your guard down for one minute. Walker looks almost like an exact replica of his mom.
Walker is a super friendly, well-balanced and stocky boy. He is super friendly and would make a nice herd sire and an even nicer show gelding for someone. He will be double registered, microchipped and up to date on the following vaccinations: Eastern/Western Enchepalitis, Tetanus, Rhino, Influenza, West Nile and Rabies. If you prefer him gelded we will have that done at our expense when he is five months of age. Walker is being offered first to our customers who have already put down deposits. Lay-a-way payments are fine as long as you send us a payment each month so we will know that you have not forgotten about your donkey. The donkey must be paid for in full before it leave for it's new home. We wean our foals at five months of age.

Dolly just started bagging up on August 12th so we were not expecting the foal for several weeks. But she fooled us and we found her with her newborn baby already born on the 19th. Dolly has been battling a bad case of diahreah for the last couple of months and we think all the medicine the vets have been giving her made her start making milk late. Classy will be offered first to our customer's that have already given us deposits for our newborns. If they pass her up we wil then post her on our for sale page and offer her to the public.

She's here! Shug is almost identical of her mom, Sweetie. She has double thick black eyeliner around both eyes. More than likely she will frost out when mature just like her mother.
We will be contacting our customers that have deposits down for foals in order of date received. If they all pass her up we will then list her on our for sale page. I am so tempted to keep this girl but we have retained her sister that was Sweetie's last foal, Little White Lie (Liza), born in 2018 that we are absolutely thrilled with.

Ramona pulled a fast one on us and had her foal exactly three weeks after she started bagging up. We barely made it down to the barn in time to assist her in the delivery but not in time to take a video of the birth. Ramona has outdone herself this time.
Matt will be sold as a gelding only and he will be castrated by our vet (at our expense) at five months of age before he leaves for his new home. He will also be up to date on all vaccinations including Eastern/Western Encephalitis, Tetunus, Rhino, Influenza, West Nile and Rabies. He will also have a negative coggins report and be registered and microchipped. This very personable little boy will remain very small and mature under 30".
