ShAmy has darkened up since we took these pictures and videos. We haven't kept any of Shimmy's foals since she had Roger so we are thinking of keeping ShAmy to buddy up with Roger one day so he will have someone to play with that is his own size. We are going to leave him intact for now so we can have a few tiny foals for our customers that prefer them as pets.

Little Much was born when I was out of town for three weeks caring for my sister's farm while she was in the hospital. He was safely delivered by my wonderful husband, Joe, all by himself.
2023 Update!
We just recently purchased Shorty back from his owner that has had him since he was weaned. We now co-own Shorty with Southern Asspitality Miniature Donkeys in Wartrace, Tennessee. We are happy to add his genetics back into our herd as he is very stocky with correct conformation, a tiny adorable head and a very laid back personality that we have found is passed on to offspring. Shorty's coat is splotchy in these photos/videos. We may try to retake his photos and videos when and if his coat evens out.

Rojo has just arrived and we absolutely love this fine looking, well-mannered jack. We jumped at the chance to own this Heiken's Ark Top Gun great grandson when we heard he was for sale because we needed to add taller donkeys into our herd. We had sold all of our taller donkeys when we did not show for a period of three years. Now that we are back on the show circuit sometimes our tiny donkeys get overlooked by the judges. We are thrilled to add Rojo's bloodlines into our herd. We think he will cross great with our Bruise and Zoo daughters and produce well-mannered, trainable show donkeys that will catch the judge's eyes. Rojo's pedigree is completely full with no unknowns.
Photos and videos were taken with the expert help of my wonderful handler, Katie Randall. We ran out of daylight before we could take videos of him driving and doing in-hand trail work but we will add those photos later. It was too cold to clip Rojo so he is in his natural coat. Rojo measured just a hair over 33" and he is undoubtably the most laid back jack we have ever been around. I can't wait for everyone to see him. He is one of the most gorgeous jacks I have ever seen. He is a delight to handle too...what a combination. A big 'thank you!' goes out to Warner Neumann, LaNell Arndt and Debbie Lee of Cedar Oaks Farm in Breham, Texas for allowing Rojo to come live at Half Ass Acres.
Sadly we lost Rojo in July of 2021 to liver failure. We are expecting several foals sired by Rojo in 2022.

Speedy arrived at Half Ass Acres all the way from New York in December of 2018 along with five of his stablemates. His owner has been diagnosed and is being treated for a very serious illness and she decided it was time to place her donkeys in another home. She chose to sell half interest in them to us so that she could stay involved in their lives. We are honored that she trusts us to give the best of care to her precious donkeys from her outstanding breeding program.
Speedy is everything you could ever want in a herd sire. He is blue black with no hint of a cross and a bright white belly and points. He is very stocky, wide and correct and to top it all off he has the most wonderful personality. He is a delight to have on our farm.
We hated to part with Speedy but at our age it is time for us to reduce our herd and our work load. He has sired some beautiful foals for us and we have his daughter, Luck Be a Lady, in our brood jennet band.

Kryptonite has the tiniest, cutest head you have ever seen. His legs are very wide and correct. Nite is really good about producing loud colors and passing his tiny, adorable head onto his offspring. To date he has produced 8 jacks and 6 jennets and 62% of his offspring have been spotted. Now that Goosebumps is of breeding age we may offer Kryptonite for sale by private treaty to the right home. He is very special to us and we want him to go where he will be appreciated. He has the most wonderful personality ever. He will pasture or hand bred and he is super easy to handle. Nite is up to date on all vaccinations including West Nile, Rabies and Botulism. He is DNA Typed, microchipped and double registered.
Thanks to Katie Randall for making these fanstastic photos and video possible and for her mom, Maria, for doing the chores while we took them. You two are the best ever!!

Now,
about Bruise. I think his pictures say it all but just let me
say this is one stout boy. His wide chest, his stocky build, his
heavy bone structure, that perfect small baby doll head, all are
the makings of a Jr. Herd Sire if I ever did see one. Bruise has
blue/grey eyes like several of his half brothers and sisters sired
by Itsy Bitsy Front and Center. He weighed in at 25 ½ lbs
and only 20 ¾ inches tall at birth. It was evident this little
black hunk could deliver a “knock-out punch” in the pasture
with the girls, or in the ring…that is show ring.
The photos above were taken August 26th, 2010.
Bruise was bred to three of our girls for foals due in the spring and fall of 2016.

Zoo is a true black and white...no matter what time of the year it is his black stays as black as black can be. He is heavy boned with a beautiful straight topline, straight wide legs with good width between them. He is also a 'no light point' carrier. He has a very easy going temperament to compliment his great looks. Zoo has only produced dark spots or solid darks and according to my friend, Marlene Clark, that I consider a genetics/color expert it is not possible for Zoo to produce the dun color (unless he is bred to a jennet carrying the dun gene) because he is not carrying a copy of the dun gene. He has proven that in the past by not producing a single dun color when bred to all of Marlene's black jennets. Dun is dominant and it is not possible for it to hide. If it was present it would be expressed in his offspring. We are looking forward to see what he will produce for us in the future. He is now pastured with five of our jennets for foals due in the fall of 2017. Thank you to Marlene and Connie for selling this fine jack to us.
These fantastic photos and videos would not have been possible without the expert handling of Katie Randall!!

Napoleon on 2/17/10 in his full winter coat!
Napoleon
is our spotted herd sire. He is a heavy-boned, compact jack with a tiny, short head, heavy
jaw and correct legs. He has deep halos around every single one of his spots. He has a lot
of interesting colors and donkeys in his background including McLendon's 45 Magnum, a 28 ¾"
dark brown jack. This boy is undoubtably the most laid-back jack we have ever
encountered. He lives in our backyard with our dogs during the cold winter months when we don't want any foals born. Thank you to Ed and Linda Trimnell at Windcrest Acres for allowing
us to purchase this fine boy!

Pepper is our pride
and joy! He is perfect in every way...small, stocky, square, correct and he produces all
those qualities in his offspring. You can spot a 'Pepper' baby in our pastures a mile away.
He is also so laid back that a child could handle him.
Pepper has been retired and gelded so that he can live out the rest of his life in happiness. Pepper has meant to much to us over the years not to take care of him in his old age. We have several of his daughters and grand daughters in our herd so his legacy will live on!
These photos were taken in September of 2010, at sixteen years of age! Pepper was turned out with our other geldings six weeks after he was gelded. He is so very happy with constant company. It does our hearts good to see him playing with other geldings every day.
Badlands is our
up and coming junior herd sire and we have great plans for him. Since the day
we purchased Meggie Mae, we have anxiously awaited the arrival of this baby.
Nothing could disappoint us with Sunset Acres Racer, being the sire, and Meggie
Mae, the dam. Badland's first foal crop is due soon! Photos and videos taken
on July 15th, 2009, the day he was body clipped. Badland's first foal crop is
due March of 2010.
We did not really want to sell Badlands but we only have room for just so many jacks before it becomes just too many to manage. We only needed one black herd sire and we retained Junebug's foal, Black 'n' Blue, for our dark herd sire. We reluctantely sold Badlands to our great friend, Jane Savage. We hope you love him as much as we do!

Spec is out of one
of our very best spotted jennets and sired by a tiny sorrel jack. His grand sire is the
great 'few spot' white jack, Hartman
Donkey's Trenton. We think so much of him that we have several 'Trenton' daughters
in our brood jennet band. Spec just has a few spots but they are black and he has several
dark spots thoughout his body just on his skin that do not show up unless he is clipped
as he appears in the photographs above. Spec is stocky, stout and wide and small with outstanding
conformation & a super disposition. We expected Spec to produce some very colorful foals
and he has not disappointed us. He has produced six foals as of this date and all are heavy
boned with very correct legs and beautiful heads.
