Goose is sired by our former outstanding spotted herdsire Zoo, who now resides in Australia. His color is without a doubt a black and white spot.
We gave Goose a full two years in the pasture with our geldings to just grow and fill out. After he turned two he just blossomed and grew wide and straight with tree trunks for legs.
Update! It took a full two years before Goose's testicles dropped and he realized he was a jack. Up until then he lived with the geldings. Now he is in a small pasture with just a few girls who are teaching him how to be a 'man.' When he is a little more mature we will give him more girls to take advantage of. Right now we are hoping that he gets the confidence he needs to be a successful herd sire for many, many years to come.
Goose grew another quarter of an inch after we updated his registration papers. We will correct that soon.

Here he is... a diamond in the rough. We purchased Andy along with his stablemates from Troytown Acres in South Carolina when they went out of the donkey business due to health issues. They had purchased him as a foal to cross with their daughters they had retained sired by their champion spotted jack. But before he was mature they stopped breeding and selling foals. He had just been in the pasture with a miniature horse gelding enjoying the good life. Zhivago (or Andy) is very stocky, wide and correct with a correct bite. His legs are straight and he tracks perfectly at the walk and trot. He has never been shown so he did not understand when we were asking him to trot in-hand for his video. He is very sweet and willing so I am sure it won't take him long to learn. He is also a quiet jack that does not constantly pace if he is kept alone. He measures under 30¾" and he could use a hoof trim that might make him measure even smaller. Thank you to his breeder, Andrea Thalman, for allowing us to add our farm name when registering him. We will have Zhivago (Andy) DNA tested as soon as his registration papers are issued as he came with only a registration application. Update! Andy has produced six foals, so far in his lifetime....three jacks and three jennets and four looked exactly like their sire and one tyger spotted jennet and one tyger spotted jack. We are very pleased with his offspring.
